Donneurs de sens – Season 1, episode 2
Mother’s milk donation: Uniting mothers in a chain of solidarity
Thousands of mothers join forces each year to form a chain of solidarity in Québec. By donating their surplus milk to Héma-Québec, they help the province’s very premature babies.
In this second episode of Héma-Québec’s Donneurs de sens podcast, host Chu Anh Pham has a delightful conversation with Stéphanie Bergeron and Marie-Claude Chouinard, who have had firsthand experience with this chain of solidarity.
When her twins were born several weeks early, Stéphanie and her family were able to rely on Héma-Québec’s Public Mothers’ Milk Bank to ensure the babies would get the milk they needed in order to avoid serious illness. By the time the twins got to go home from the hospital, Stéphanie was producing a considerable amount of milk and wanted to donate some to Héma-Québec’s bank to help other families in turn.
