Donneurs de sens – Season 2: 101 courses, episode 1

Plasma donation

What is plasma? “Plasma is like water in a pool, and the other components of blood, like white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets, are like the balls, floats and toys that get put in the pool,” says Frédérique Bergeron.

If plasma is the liquid part of blood, how can you donate it without donating the other blood components too? Can you donate plasma at any of the blood drives across Québec, or do you have to go to a permanent facility like a Héma-Québec donation centre?

Why donate plasma? Who can plasma help? All this and more in this episode of Donneurs de sens!

In this first episode of the series, hosts Camille Lemay and Henrio Grubissa talk about plasma donation with Frédérique Bergeron, donor services agent at the Héma-Québec Donation Centre in Saguenay.
