Agreement in principle between Héma-Québec and its lab technicians ratified
Montréal – On January 19, the Syndicat des techniciens et techniciennes de laboratoire d’Héma-Québec held a general meeting to vote on an agreement in principle, reached on December 18, 2024, to renew their collective agreement. The vote passed with the support of 96% of the members in attendance.
The new collective agreement will raise salaries by 17.4% over five years. It also includes improvements to work organization and supports lab technician attraction and retention, which in turn helps drive the organization’s objectives.
The renewing of the collective agreement is testament to both parties’ approach to bargaining. In the words of Nathalie Fagnan, Héma-Québec President and Chief Executive Officer:
“I am heartened by how both parties embraced open conversation, and I’d like to thank the two committees for their hard work. Everyone was nothing but constructive in their tone and approach, which ensured a frictionless process. I’d also like to thank the union for being so open to finding solutions to real problems. We will most definitely go back to this process as a roadmap for bargaining going forward. I am so happy for our technicians, who can now come into work feeling a little lighter, knowing the bargaining process is behind them and they can keep doing the incredible work they do, with their usual outstanding talent and dedication.”
