Héma-Québec consolidates brands to recruit more donors
All GLOBULE centres and PLASMAVIE lounges will now be called Héma-Québec Donation Centres.
Montréal – As of today, Héma-Québec is consolidating its brand identity under the single, unified banner of Héma-Québec and will discontinue the use of its secondary brand names (GLOBULE, PLASMAVIE and La Collecte). This change is designed to more efficiently fulfill the needs of the province’s healthcare system by simplifying the donor experience, enhancing the visibility of donor locations and clarifying Héma-Québec’s role. All donor centres will now be called Héma-Québec Donation Centres, including the new centre opening in Drummondville in January 2025.
Survey results have shown that the use of multiple brand names caused confusion among the public, making it difficult for them to associate the different brands with Héma-Québec. In fact, Hema-Québec’s secondary brands were significantly less known and recognized than Héma-Québec itself, which has strong brand awareness (84% unaided awareness in Québec) and an excellent reputation. In donation centre markets, two out of three donors failed to connect Héma-Québec with its GLOBULE and PLASMAVIE donation centres. This confusion has been a major roadblock to enhancing public awareness and engagement, resulting in numerous supply challenges at a time when Héma-Québec is striving to meet ambitious targets for collecting plasma and other blood products to serve the needs of the Quebec population.
Héma-Québec has decided to seize this opportunity to update its logo and clearly signal to the public that it is no longer solely a blood donation organization, as suggested by its previous logo. Since opening its doors over 25 years ago, Héma-Québec has greatly expanded its operations and is now responsible for a diverse array of biological products of human origin including blood, plasma, platelets, stem cells, mother’s milk and human tissue. Additionally, it offers specialized laboratory testing services. As a result, their new and improved logo more accurately reflects the entire scope of Héma-Québec’s activities. These changes will be executed with a focus on sound resource management. They will be rolled out gradually over the course of several months.
The video below shows how the brand has evolved since the organization was founded in 1998.
