Immunology analyses and erythrocyte genotyping
Erythrocyte immunology tests are performed to prevent the risk of erythrocyte hemolysis. They are essential in the context of transfusions and transplants, as well as part of pregnancy follow-up in alloimmunized patients or hemolytic anemia assessments.
Serology case investigation services
The laboratory identifies and resolves issues related to red blood cell transfusions. We provide services to help hospitals resolve issues during serological investigations (search for irregular antibodies) of patients. The analyses enable health care professionals in hospitals to identify individuals who are alloimmunized (or at risk of becoming so) and offer them optimal care. Solving complex issues related to erythrocyte antibodies may require the use of advanced serological tests or genotyping.
The laboratory performs screening and identification analyses for erythrocyte antibodies for:
- perinatal screening;
- investigating complex cases.

Erythrocyte genotyping service
Genotyping services complement serological analyses. We use state-of-the-art molecular testing platforms to provide red blood cell antigen genotyping.
The laboratory does erythrocytic genotyping for:
- sequencing antigen-producing genes for more complex cases;
- the genotyping of 37 antigens from 10 blood groups;
- antigens can belong to blood group systems such as the Rhesus (C, E, c, e), Kell (K), Duffy (Fya, Fyb), Kidd (Jka, Jkb), and MNS (S, s) systems;
