Regulatory training for cord blood collection

Offered by Héma-Québec, the training is intended for the staff members of the following partner collection centres: 

  • St. Mary’s Hospital
  • Centre hospitalier universitaire (CHU) Saint-Justine
  • Hôpital de la Cité-de-la-Santé
  • LaSalle Hospital

Two-hour theory training offered online on Héma-Québec’s education platform.

Objective of the training:

To enable nurses to become proficient in the cord blood collection procedure: storing and preparing the materials, labelling, packaging and shipping the cord blood bag.

  • Length: Two hours of theory training.
  • Cost: No charge.
  • Prerequisites: Nursing training in the birthing module.
  • Offered online on Héma-Québec’s education platform.

To register

To register for the training and obtain your access to Héma-Québec’s education platform, you will have to provide the following information:

  • Last and first name
  • Email address*
  • Job title and department
  • Employee number

This information must be emailed to Héma-Québec: sangdecordon.partenaire@hema-quebec.qc.ca.

*We strongly recommend that you use a secure e-mail address for your hospital (@ssss.gouv.qc.ca). This will enable you to connect to the platform using your hospital's password.

It will still be possible to log in with a personal e-mail address, but a two-level authentication will be required, involving the use of a cell phone number.

Two-hour theory training offered online on Héma-Québec’s Espace Formation.

Objective of the training:

To coach and certify physicians so that they are able to perform the cord blood collection procedure, from assessing a potential donor’s eligibility, to collecting the cord blood.

  • Length: Two hours of theory training.
  • Cost: No charge.
  • Prerequisites: Be a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec.
  • Offered online on Héma-Québec’s Espace Formation.

To register for the training and obtain your access to Héma-Québec’s Espace Formation, you will have to provide the following information:

  • Last and first name
  • Email address*
  • Speciality and department
  • Permit number

This information must be emailed to Héma-Québec: sangdecordon.partenaire@hema-quebec.qc.ca.
